The Scarpetta Factor was an okay read. After reading the description, like with all of these books, I was excited (except for the horrible title, the second in a row). The book follows the same pattern as Cornwell’s last couple of books. The beginning was great, the premise was interesting and Kay is back at it again. But, that is as good as it gets. It starts to sag in the middle and she seems to forget where she is going with all of the plotlines. There are some good parts of course, I am always so happy when we finally get to find out what Kay is up to after being subjected to boring periphery characters.

The ending was horrible. I don’t think Kay has actually solved a case in a long time. The culprit just finds her no effort involved!! “Scarpetta” was a better addition than this one, I knew it was going to be trouble when I found out a certain villain was back. Cornwell should have left that plotline buried, it never made sense and how she worked it into this one was ridiculous.

Is anyone else annoyed with the new TV personality Kay? I can’t stand that she is doing that in this book I was happy when she said she was going to quite in “Scarpetta”. No cop would trust someone who was always on TV and talking to the media. I also remember in “Predator” Kay made a comment to Dr. Self about people who go on TV, so it seems weird that she would. I hope Kay is off CNN in the next one and just does her job. I want to read about a forensic pathologist not a TV personality who solves crime in her spare time!

Anyway, Kay is one of my favourite characters in any series. I was also happy that it appears that Benton is going to be back to his old self. I enjoy these books a lot and will read the next one. But, I think Cornwell does have to tighten it up a bit.

Ps. Swearing is fucking normal, get over it.

I didn't think that I should start a new topic just for this, so I've put this in here.

I just wanted to say that I thought that the advertising of The Scarpetta Factor book (as seen in the Images section of this website) was brilliant! The book in the forensic evidence bag is a lot different to other book advertising I've seen.I thought that this was pretty eye catching and a clever way to advertise a book such as this.

I thought Scarpetta was a good read.
The Scarpetta Factor grabbed me and wouldn't let go.
Can't wait for the next book.
Keep up the great work, P.D. Cornwell.

Before I say my last goodbyes to grammy55 let me put one thing into perspective. America was build on the back of treasonous actions by George Washington and his associates against a legitimate government at the time and later on the back of the black slavery. I don't mean to offend anybody by this, however before you start saying that the nation was build upon integrity and respect for other people you should learn the history of your country. You can't argue the truth.
I did not want to start any arguments on this site, because I have never done so and never will. But if somebody insults me for my views then my reaction is to defend myself .
