The Eerie Coterie and Scarpetta Topic #2

The Scarpetta books have the most interesting characters in a thriller series than any other I have read. Cornwell does a great job of mixing her own ideas and interests with interests of her characters - they are their own people. She may write the books, but I believe andy good writer listens to their characters tell them their stories. Sometime they make us mad, but they are as human as we are. In "Blow Fly" - one of my Top 5 in the series, she redefined her series by shifting her style to third person. Since Scarpetta had been left out to dry she - Scarpetta - fell into herself and the author needed to let others show themselves through different eyes. It is a strange, brutal and surreal tale, but gives off a scent of change; of different roads to be travelled by Cornwell's characters. It was a risky move and a literary no-no, but in Cornwell's hands she redifined her own sub-genre of fiction. As the first Forensic Detective series Cornwell opened a new door in thrillers and with "Blow Fly" she challenges us yet again!!

The intensities of the relationships and character development are what really grab me. So I think it's The Scarpetta Factor for me. Oh and Point of Origin too for much the same reaons. I was guutted when Benton died.
Although, I think Postmortem is superb and takes a lot to be beaten.
As you say. It's so hard to decide

Mhhhhm,..... tough question though it would be easier when I not long ago ended rereading Spetta novels liked every one of them for different reasons. First books were so entirely different from what was on crime market that time then it become likeness of characters, their relationships intense story like in Point of origin, even when Predator was my hardest to read I was still interested what's comming next.
When I really need to decided which is best while I still didn't received Winter table and Spetta factor *indeed I deserve every sympathy* guess title for my best Spetta book goes to Scarpetta, (I'm sure 5 minutes go bay I'll change my mind). Why is easy way of writing gets better, Marino and Spetta again coming together after M's attack on her but most of all why this particular book is my No1 are Lucy&Berger. Then for that same reason I liked Blow fly (see I knew I'll change my mind) all that intense talk between the two in Berger's apartment also Lucy/Nic thing guess in that book Lucy was gets more individual in a way, more involved than latest books like seeing who Lucy really is.
Gosh really hard question indeed,.......I'll be here later deciding again,...........;)! No don't worry, I'll stay with Scarpetta!

The Eerie Coterie and Scarpetta Topic #2

The Eerie Coterie wants to ask her fans which of the Scarpetta books is your favorite and why?? The Nobody had to think real hard about this one since I love them all - yes, I have loved every book she has written, since I understand the need to challenge your characters and sometimes readers don't like the choices they make or to have your comfort zones challenged. Real life however is not so neat and tidy. So, for my favorite I would choose "Blowfly". I will tell you why later. For now I hope to hear from all of you.
