I agree that she is a very wrong choice for the role of Kay, however I am anticipating the movie because I think that it will be as great as the books are. I know that it will be just as mind twisting as the books are and am waiting the release of the movie.

I do not see Angelina Jolie as Kay Scarpetta....wrong choice...please reconsider this decision. Kay Scarpetta character certainly deserves a more believable down to earth person. How about Sandra Bullock?
I will keep reading Ms. Cornwell's books, but not see the movies if Ms. Jolie will be the main character.

Angelina Jolie is all wrong for the part of Kay and Lucy both. I am in agreement that lesser known but equally good actresses should take these roles so that the movie isn't lost in all the Angelina/Jen/Brad hype and media circus. My suggestion for Kay Scarpetta is Lauren Holly, she is mature enough for the part and already has proven that she has the ability to play this type of character. Physically she fits the description of Kay and with a little hair dye could be a blonde. For the part of Lucy how about Hilary Duff?

I agree with this comment.....Daniel Radcliffe & co, and Harrison Ford & co made the films with their acting abilities. Let the less well known but equally as gifted actors get a chance to take the lead roles in Scarpetta films! Angelina - not what I had visioned as Kay whilst reading the books! (I had more of a vision of PC as Kay funnily enough!) I don't think Angelina is tom-boyish enough to play Lucy either. Michelle Ryan is possible better suited to play Lucy - young and could carry off the boyish behaviour of Lucy! Or perhaps Hannah Spearitt (currently acting in Primeval in the UK, was the tiny member of SClub7)

I would agree with Jodie Foster as Kay. Angelina is still too young in looks to play such an intelligent and mature woman as Kay.

I noticed one comment saying NO to any form of Scarpetta film - why not? Films do not always 'ruin' the books! Harry Potter is a perfect example of how a film can be just as good as the book. The scriptwriters will always have to edit the films though, as any film that stayed 100% true to the book would become the world's longest film - which nobody would want to sit and watch for 3 hours or more! The Lord Of The Rings films are far too long, while the Harry Potter ones are about the right lengh. The added advantage of the film is that many people often do not read the books, but watch the films.....then read the books. I watched the Hannibal films prior to reading the books; it did not spoil my enjoyment of the books, but added to it, as there are always bits that just cannot be fitted into a film. I did read 'Misery' prior to watching the film, and was very disappointed by how the film deviated from the book's story at several points. As long as the film producers follow the storylines in the Scarpetta novels, the films should be as good as the books themselves.

also a huge fan of patricia cornwell and scarpetta. i guess they just ruined (whoever the decision maker was) nearly two decades of fun and adoration for this series of books. they have always been my first choice of reading, but now the movie with jolie, no way. the disappointment starts with jolie's looks and body, but does not end there. reconsider pleeeaaaassseeeeeee

I have all the Scarpetta books i love all of Patricia Cornwell's novels especially the Scarpetta series and i cant see Angelina as Kay Scarpetta so i hope she doesn't screw it up. Maybe Jodi Foster i think would be a great choice.

Helen Hunt? Hm...there's a thought! She would be good for the part too.

I think it's neat that Patricia Cornwell's books have gotten to the big screen. That's so awesome! She's a very talented writer. I can't ever finish a book in this series, without having one to start right then *LOL*

I also think Angelina Jolie is probably the worst possible choice for the Scarpetta movies- You are the author and you have a clear view of Scarpetta, but this seems like hitting a foul ball in the big green monster.
