I love Patricia Cornwell's books - but I was so dissappointed with Scarpetta - couldn't get into it - I usually can't put her books down - but I've been reading this book for over a month - finally just put it down and went to another book - I can't believe I feel this way about one of her books - I can't even finish it.....
The last 2 books Scarpetta and The Scarpetta Factor were just too long-The Scarpetta Factor was much better-didn't lag-finished it in 2 days.

Wow, I am curious- perhaps you were just not in a mood to read. The only book of the series that was laborious for me to get through was Predator, and I admit I struggled through that book. And, BTW, I wish I could re read Scarpetta now- I got my copy through the library (trying to save the families finances a bit!).
I will agree with ashleigh- try it again. This book is NOT a sleeper and is a very good read for Scarpetta fans.

Whoa!!! I have never quit a PC book not even Jack The Ripper . I know it's slow it will pick it up after the first 250 it gets so good you will not want to put it down. Just pick it up again I promise it will get to the normal twists and turns.

Here, here!!!!!!!!!! I just finished Scarpetta and LOVED it. It has been a long time since I was this happy with a Scarpetta series book. Marino made me laugh again!! Yes! And Kay and Benton and Lucy all seem to be back in stride, Bentons demeanor has improved. I had a few minor issues with the book, but in comparison to the issues I had with Predator and Book of the Dead they are inconsequential. A great book oveall. Welcome home, Kay, Benton, Pete and Lucy. Well done and thanks Ms Cornwell.

Re-Reading Scarpetta

I love, love, love Patricia Cornwell's books! I read Scarpetta the first time so fast, that I missed a few things, I still had un-answered questions. Needless to say after reading it a second time, all my questions were answered. I read it so fast and furious the first time, that some details were overlooked. I still love, love, love Patricia Cornwell's writing.
I have learned, with this novel, to savor each paragraph, like a fine wine.
I have read every known book she has had published and am looking forward to the next one.
