Lucy??

I also see Kay as looking much like a cross between PC and Carrie Weaver from ER, only with no glasses and longer hair, just below the shoulder blades. I know Marino's supposed to be bald, but I ALWAYS see him as looking like Lt. Monaghan from Quincy! (prays someone else knows who I'm talking about!) Lucy has always struck me as being much like Sarah from CSI, especially when she was in her little self-destructive moods. Benton seems like he would be your typical dashing doctor type. And then there's the incomparable (at least in HER mind) Dr. Self. She's always been like Kay to me, but with more blonde in her hair and a face more like Victoria Principal from Dallas. Very snooty!

Rose, being Rose from the beginning, I think would have anticipated both Pete and Lucy's reactions. She was the "Mother", and as always, mothers know all. She got deprived of the love and true caring for that she deserved, except for Kay of course. Her prayers from her death bed were merited though, and carried out, I felt.

Lucy. She was so integral to Kay's development. Her temper tan-troms made all of them stronger. She's the spoon always turning in the pot the keeps things from overflowing, but at the same time keeps them from settling. Her over-achievement was also necessary. It kept Kay humbled in a way. Let Lucy be crazy and un-touchable. It's what she's good at.

It is great to hear that Lucy is more mature and likeable in Scarpetta. I found myself seriously annoyed with her in the last few books. And Kay being with Rose until the end is so Kay......pure class.
She is far more likeable in the latest book, more mature, settled. I always loved the adventure Lucy brought to the Scarpetta series but she did irritate me with her behaviour towards others and I sometimes found her ability to be quite so fantastic at everything she turned her hand to (as well as being so fit and rich etc.) a little unbelievable at times. I find myself anticipating her sections in the books the most but yet I cannot picture her either, unlike all the other regulars. I can't help feeling sorry for Rose though, she must have wondered in her decline why Marino and Lucy stayed away, both having their own reasons for doing so.
i think thats very true and i think many people who read the book felt sorry for rose and Scarpetta as yet again she had to see someone she cared about die like her father and i thought it great that she looked after rose till she passed it was in the true Scarpetta style.

I love Pete, but mostly the old Pete(aka early Scarpetta books). He has a wonderful nose for being a detective, and a refreshingly blunt style which I find hysterical. Lucy? Not too sure about her. In some books she completely irritated me, an I thought the book would have been better off without her. I have yet to read Scarpetta, but it sounds as though she is more likeable in it.

I will always love Lucy, and i especially love her in Scarpetta. Shes kinda back to herself.
I lke it when Lucy is a bit self-destructive. When she is perfect she resembles plastic, but when she is not so perfect then she is more realistic and likeable.

Oh yeah I got a mental image of Lucy. All of the characters.

Kay to me does resemble Patricia a bit in my mind.
