Lucy??

Pity Patricia can't write these beauties as quickly as I can read-em!
Incidentally, if Lucy is so "brilliant", why does she assume there is no "tate" in "orientate" - the author certainly knows that both ways are acceptable. Shouldn't Lucy have inferred that the line crewman was possibly not American? My read was that she was "off colour", hence the snappy response - any theories?

I was just wondering if anyone know what actually happened between Lucy and Teun? Did they break up or something??

Yes, Lucy gets too caught up in technology at times. Yes she cares deeply for those she loves......I hope her sense of her own mortality has increased a bit.

No not cool.

I think her heart is in the right place, she really cares for those around her - it just seems to get lost in translation or something. So accomplished in many areas of her life except maybe communicating her feelings!

Hairball? *ROTFL* That's funny!!

I am soooooo hoping that Benton is back with the FBI. At the end of SF, when Kay says "I plan to commit as many sins as possible when we get home, Agent Benton Wesley...." I was sooooooo excited! Hmmmm....was she hinting at something?

I love Lucy! Although she's a little dysfunctional (aren't we all in some way?), she's my favorite, besides Kay! She keeps things exciting. I did not like her following Jaime by giving them the smartphones for Christmas in the SF, though. That wasn't cool at all!

Could not agree with you more, ilovelucy. Benton was brilliant in the FBI- he belongs there and now that Hairball is out of the picture in a most permanent fashion......there is room for him to return.

It's always such a long wait. Killer.

More and more in recent books my heart has sunk when I have come to Benton's chapters. His discussions with other 'academic' types is just not my cup of tea at all. When I read that even he missed the FBI I was tempted to get up and do a jig across my bedroom floor! I'm sure his actions at the end of Scarpetta Factor will only add to his realisation.

The Scarpetta secret from her past is interesting- but who knows what that is. I have never really liked Berger for Lucy and I have always felt that Berger was simply replacing Kay in Lucy's life. Lucy is, in her own way, always looking for a mother figure, despite the fact that she is a very strong talented individual. I can see Benton back in the FBI, and found him most interesting and vital in that role. Thanks for sharing your thoughts......we will have to wait til the next book to find out what really happens.

SCARPETTA FACTOR SOILER ALERT .... ....Benton maybe wanting to go back to the FBI, Scarpetta being offered her own show but I would imagine she's feeling like she's had her fingers burnt with the whole TV thing. I hope Lucy has learnt something by finally opening up a little about herself, keeping so much back can be detrimental (but of course Lucy wouldn't be so interesting if she wasn't so complex). Berger thinking that Lucy could have murdered someone may have repercussions? It's hard to say because as usual the book ends without any real reflection by the people involved regarding the climax of the story. I think changes could be afoot, but of course that's my thoughts, I could be completely wrong. As we are supposed to find something big from Scarpetta's past in the next installment - who knows what is going to happen? Except PC of course.
