I could not stand Dorothy she was a true mentalist. I think resentment is a hard feeling to deal with but when it comes from ur own familly it must be sooo hurtful.
Also I gotta agree with Scarpettarox i really hope kay and pete get back on track i miss the banter with those 2.

Denmark,

I wouldn't mind a reunion with Dorothy either. When did we hear from her last? I know she was in Black Notice, with Lucy and Jo.

She keeps things exciting and dramatic! *LOL*

Wow! I haven't been here in forever!

Umm......I too liked Benton's death. But like you guys, I mourned for quite sometime. I still can't bring myself to finish "Point of Origin" or "Black Notice". (even though I have completed them, along with the series! More than once! *LOL*)

I think what shocked me the most was that not only did Marino know, but Lucy did! I can't imagine keeping something that big from my family member. Can you imagine the emotional damage? Geez!! I did like how he appeared back in "Blow Fly" though. That was so cool, I was so excited!!

I think the most emotional event, for me so far besides Benton going MIA, was when Lucy was shot in "Scarpetta". I was on the phone with two of my friends, and was in dead silence for the longest time *LOL* I was about in tears reading it.

I really love Mrs. Cornwell as a writer. I think it's so cool how she thoroughly researches what she writes about. Like, none of what her characters encounter is made up. I love how she goes into detail during the autopsies, and the details having to do with forensics. I love the science just as much as the storylines with the characters. Her use of words (I think, Denmark, you pointed that out earlier) is awesome! Her descriptions make you feel as if you are right beside Kay in the autopsy suite, or at a crime scene. Or even in her kitchen.........does anyone else ever want to be a dinner guest there? *LOL* I love when Kay pronounces one of her dishes to Marino, in Italian, and he goes, "I love when you talk dirty, Doc!" Sooooooo funny!

That's another thing I miss. I just started the series over, I'm currently reading All That Remains. I miss the relaitonship between Kay and Marino. I won't go into detail, cause of not knowing who is reading this, and where they are. But after Book of The Dead, they changed. I miss them joking around, and insulting each other. Ha, ha!! I miss the friendship. I hope in Port Mortuary, they get closer again.

It's amazing these people aren't more damaged than they really are, considering what they've been through and some of the secrets they've had to keep.

As much as I hated Benton dying, the way he died and the sudden unexpected way it happened was great. Even greater was when he came back in Blow Fly ;-) But I've since missed the aftermath of his return and I think that finally started in The SF...
In The Scarpetta Factor we finally really saw what Benton's "death" had done to both Kay and Benton emotionally... buuuut I'd love to see more ;-)

The fact that The SF took place over 2 or 3 days also excuses a lot of "What ever happened to...?" things. Such as Lucy's pituitary tumor, which have caused her health to be less than perfect in both Predator, Book of the Dead and I think Scarpetta. And I have to say I wouldn't mind a reunion with Kay's sister Dorothy, ha ha :-)

He was killed in Point of Origin... Very good, but veeeery depressing! I was in mourning for at least a week :-(
AND Blow Fly hadn't come out yet so I also thought it was the end of Benton...

i can't believe that i missed the book where benton was killed.
what is the name of the book so i can rush out and get it?

In Trace, poor Marino has to let Kay examine his penis after a night he can't really remember... Poor macho Pete has to let the woman he's not so secretly in love with fiddle with his manhood. Kay is of course completely professional and concerned for her friend, but the way PC wrote it is just brilliant - funny but not without a sincere and serious approach.

What keeps me engulfed by these novels is the way PC describes the characters' relationships - and I'm especially a sucker for Kay and Benton ;-)

Also, sometimes when I'm reading I notice sentences maybe paragraphs were I stop and just enjoy PC's use of the language. I've learned a lot about describing scenes, smells and moods from reading her novels, not that I would ever dare compare my writing to hers. But I can see where my inspiration comes from :-)[/quote]

You are right on money with that post my friend. Drawing inspiration from the PC books is amazing. There are many passages I love. From Kay/Benton first encounter in that hotel room, through Lucy/Rudy intense scene in Poland, Kay finding "Benton's burned remains", Jamie's and Lucy's relationship development, Kay and Lucy on the rail tracks killing Temple Gold.......and I can go on and on Oh, not forgetting Kay reading the letter from Benton and Anna's recollection of her childhood..... Too many wonderful scenes to list. Love, love the books. :-D

Alrighty, so I sensed it was a good time to start a good old book chat in here...

Tell us about your favorite quote, passage, chapter, scene, plotline, character :-)

A few ground rules for this topic (just to avoid yet another argument):
- Spelling errors and typos are being covered in another topic :-)
- So is the use of "Let's don't." :-)
- It is perfectly okay to point out something that you maybe didn't like so much. This isn't supposed to be the Praise PC topic, but more a constructive discussion of her work :-)
- Please refrain from personal attacks if you don't agree with someone's statement. Everybody is entitled to their opinion and you are entitled to disagree, but be tactful and remember you are dealing with people just like yourself... I put it this way because there has been some unfortunate situations before :-/
