  2. Chuck Smith says:

A great read. I would recommend this novel to anyone who likes a real crime thriller. The books was filled with emotion and great excitement. One of the best books that I’ve read.

  4. Ann says:

I just discovered Dr Scarpetta not long ago but I’m already on book 4. I love this series. a rare gem to find a strong female character in a medical novel. I’m going to savor each one of these books! Thanks Patricia for a great read, and keep writing!

  5. Kay says:

Can’t wait for the next Kay Scarpetta novel. :)

    1. Ivan says:

We bought this set for our 5-year-old son after avihng checked it out of the library a kazillion times. The author who reads the stories has a wonderful story-telling voice. My son listens to them over and over and over again. Great stories to read, and a wonderful CD set to listen to.

  6. Debbie says:

I love The Scarpetta series, but I am finding that I really liked her earlier books, not only with the building of the characters as well as a different chilling story line in each book yet still keeping the integrity of the characters. I am currently reading Scarpetta Factor and the re-emergence of the Chandonne family in this book is taking the book backwards. Patricia is such a talented writer, and as seen in her earlier writings of this series and in her Andy Brazil series that she is so very talented that I question the bringing back old characters.

  7. Resourceress says:

Which Cornwell novel described a college professor who subsidized his income with a trust fund from maiden aunts? Their wise investments allowed him certain luxuries he could not otherwise have afforded.

    1. Igor says:

I am glad you state that it is NOT necessary to have an ISBN to publsih an ebook, as so many sites trick you into believing it’s necessary thereby adding to the cost of the operation. Thanks.

  8. Gus Skinas says:

I was an avid fan of the Scarpetta series. But at some point it seems the writing style changed to writing in present tense. From that point on, I had a lot of trouble reading them. Must be my temporally impaired brain. I still love the stories, but wish there were past tense versions of the newer books available.

    1. pat says:

      I agree.

  9. Debi says:

Just decovered Patricia Cornwell. I started on the 17th book of the Scarpetta series. Did’nt know any thing about her till a friend told me about the series so i stopped reading the 17th book and started with the first one and i just love them. I’m on book eight now. 10. CharlotteTurner says:

I have read most, but not all, of the Scarpetta novels that come along. I have missed a few of them. I look forward to reading them when I have them in hand. I do get confused at times and will start a book only to find that I have already read it. If it has been a while I will reread it. I am amazed that you can be so prolific and still have some kind of a “normal life” while doing these novels. I say thank you for all of your hard work even though to some it might seem easy to do. I just wish that I had your talent!

  11. Unika Rouse says:

I “discovered” my first Patricia Cornwell book 3 years ago. Since then, I cant stop reading. I already have 7 books up to date and think she is an amazing writer and person. Are there any movies or TV series of her books? Thanks Patircia, by reading your books you bring some exitement and light into my life. Never stop writing! Unika

    1. Leonie Maher says:

NO NO NO do not make her books into TV or DVD or onto any visual format: it will never be a true representation of the stories. Keep your imagination of how the characters look and behave. Have your own imagination of how her house looks like etc. Don’t ruin your imaginations by making movies and TV shows

    1. Sumiko says:

it was not absolutely necassery to read them In order . (Note Postmortem is the first in the series ) Our antagonist is Dr. Kay Scarpetta, who is the chief Medical examiner for Virginia. She is also a lawyer and a consultant for the FBI. This story, that centers around the murder of a young girl leads us in many directions, and gives us the chance to follow many leads. The book is littered with all sorts of fascinating behind the scenes forensic activity. So if your into that sort of thing, such as analyzing photos, evidence samples, and the study of the time of death you’ll enjoy a lot of the detail that goes into the development of the investigation. This book also enables to experience many of Dr. Scarpetta’s relationships. We are able to see her interact with her niece Lucy, an FBI intern , Benton Wesley a FBI collegue and romantic interest, and Pete Marino a detective from Virginia. These are all charcters that appear to be present in many of her stories. With out giving too much a way, the story uunfolds rather similarly to an onion, the way you would peel back layer upon layer to discover well in this case who done it . The story does not drag at all, even with all the technical mumbo jumbo which was even easy for a lay-man to understand, and is filled with lot’s of page turning suspense. Let me say, I enjoyed it so much so that I immediately picked up Unnatural Exposure and plowed through that one too.Help other customers find the most helpful reviewsa0Was this review helpful to you?a0 | a0 Leave a Comment to Name(required)Mail (will not be published)(required)Website Posted by on Jun 1, 2012Posted by on May 28, 2012Posted by on May 24, 2012 Posted by on Oct 16, 2010Posted by on Oct 17, 2010Posted by on Oct 18, 2010 Posted by on Oct 19, 2010Posted by on Feb 16, 2012Posted by on Feb 9, 2012 Advertisement Link To Books:Tag(s) To Choose From:

There is something about this lady just everytime she gets down on the bussness.
Her hand is very enouph to narate the reality of deep dirty stufs that
left even her own mind into usual fear of seing the nextday, simply caz of what
is she ready and cappable in telling it.she is very well dedicated to this type of art.
I fell in love with what she does the first day I set an eye into her “postmortem” ten very
first paragraph of that book I said this”where were u all these days” .
Eversince I successfuly went other two of her own though not in series but I played
Each scene I readed mindly.can’t beleave I’m in thirdword cuntry but I got a chance to
find her copies into ponlocalshop just laid on ground on the city called Arusha in Tanzania. I bought “the body of evidence”for
35$,the portmortem for 23$ and of cause bought “the portmutor” a while ago when I travelled to
Swaziland for 12$.all look old and used but I could never let go.
The funything is,each novelfriend step into my collection must borrow her book first.they are all taken
But I find a way to find such copies back.
