Patricia Cornwell

Dr. Kay Scarpetta is working a suspicious death scene in Cambridge, Massachusetts when an emergency alert sounds on her phone. A video link lands in her text messages and seems to be from her computer genius niece Lucy. But how can it be? It’s clearly a surveillance film of Lucy taken almost twenty years ago.

As Scarpetta watches she begins to learn frightening secrets about her niece, whom she has loved and raised like a daughter. That film clip and then others sent soon after raise dangerous legal implications that increasingly isolate Scarpetta and leave her confused, worried, and not knowing where to turn. She doesn’t know whom she can tell – not her FBI husband Benton Wesley or her investigative partner Pete Marino. Not even Lucy.

In this new novel, Cornwell launches these unforgettable characters on an intensely psychological odyssey that includes the mysterious death of a Hollywood mogul’s daughter, aircraft wreckage on the bottom of the sea in the Bermuda Triangle, a grisly gift left in the back of a crime scene truck, and videos from the past that threaten to destroy Scarpetta’s entire world and everyone she loves. The diabolical presence behind what unfolds seems obvious – but strangely, not to the FBI. Certainly that’s the message they send when they raid Lucy’s estate and begin building a case that could send her to prison for the rest of her life.

I love the Scarpetta series. I reread the series every year in getting ready for the next book. I am wondering though if there are any plains to write anymore Win Garano seris or Andy Brazil series book I would love to follow more on those characters.

Spoiler alert…I just finished “Flesh and Blood”, and I can’t wait to read “Depraved Heart”. After reading the epilogue in F&B, I was worried that either Dr. S or Benton Wesley was shot, but apparently not, as they seem alive and well (?) in the sequel. Please tell me that Sock is also okay.

    Dear Miss Patricia,
I am writing to request that you put out all of your books unabridged in CD or MP3. People with head injuries can not watch TV or read for long periods of time without getting sever headaches. I am a Combat Medic in the Army and know this first hand. Plus listening to your stories I can accomplish laundry, cooking, dusting and most other chores along with being able to drive long distances. I even have my mother hooked since she has never been able to do less than three things at a time. I promise to buy the entire series as I did JD ROBB’S who finally came out with her entire IN DEATH series I know have 1 thru 40 all on disk and am eagerly awaiting 41. I have most but not all of your work on disk as well. Your earlier works are not available and I am hoping you will take this to heart and change that. PLEASE MAKE ALL YOUR WORK AVAILABLE ON DISK.
